ESTnet Year in Industry 2017: Calendar of events

Description

The ESTnet Year in Industry brings employers together with undergraduates and graduates to share experiences, learn from each other and secure a work placement or job opportunity.

We are working with Cardiff University on an exciting series of events for the 2017-2018 academic year. Come along to meet talented students, learn more about the benefits of the Year in Industry for your company, and perhaps meet your next recruits?

ESTnet Year in Industry: Cardiff University Event Calendar

Wednesday 27 September International Industry Placements: A kick-off event to provide an early opportunity to spot future talent.

Wednesday 18 October Knowledge Transfer Projects: What are they and how can they benefit your business.

Wednesday 08 November Meet the Industry, Who will you Meet?: Spot future talent through a traditional table top speed dating session and sell your company to the best talent out there with a 60 second pitch.

Wednesday 06 December Christmas Networking: Launch of Cardiff University’s mentoring scheme

Wednesday 31 January Soapbox Battle: An unstructured open platform for debate and discussion. Attendees can be polled in advance and invited to talk about a particular project, an area of work, a piece of research or share challenges they face in a practical.

Wednesday 21 March Fishbowl - the fish bite back: A Fishbowl is a disruptive open discussion ideal for ventilating ‘hot’ or ‘complex’ topics’ or sharing ideas from a variety of perspectives.

Wednesday 18 April Spring into Action: This will be the final event before exams and the summer break.

If you are interested in attending any of these events or in taking part in the ESTnet year in Industy, please contact Project Manager Allison Pinney-Collis at allison@estnet.uk.net.

Why choose the ESTnet Year in Industry?

  • To ensure that placements bring business skills as well as technical expertise, they will work towards an Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) qualification.
  • Placements will visit some of Wales’ largest and most innovative technology companies to bring a broader, well rounded perspective.
  • The ESTnet will work with you throughout the placement year to ensure it is a success for all concerned.
