Davlec Ltd are a family owned electronics manufacturing company who provide a full contract service from their Welshpool base.
The company was founded in 1983 to design, manufacture and service equipment for the dairy parlour. Since then their expertise and high production values have enabled Davlec Ltd to successfully expand into other industries, including automotive, hospitality and healthcare. Now they work on exciting and diverse projects for both multi-national and regional clients in contract electronic manufacture (CEM).
Davlec Ltd Managing Director Nia Davies explained,
“The company was founded by my parents in 1983 to service the dairy industry. Since then we have applied our expertise in design and manufacturing to work with clients with small-scale or prototype CEM needs in many different sectors. As a result we are currently working on some very exciting projects here at Davlec Ltd. For example we’re very proud of our partnership with Healthcare Matters in Wrexham which has resulted in an innovative, and completely Welsh, air-mattress solution to aid comfort and recovery for bed bound patients with long-term term conditions. We are also working with a client to develop and produce automated waffle machines, an innovative catering solution for luxury hotels looking for showcase products that reflect the level of service they offer.”
The positive word of mouth generated by Davlec Ltd since their inception means that companies approach them to work with them on CEM projects in particular, drawn by their reputation for excellent customer service and approach to business.
“We find that many of our clients have a design idea or prototype but do not yet have a product that is commercially viable in terms of manufacturing – with our in house electronics design team and our flexible production structure this is where our team can really help.
“Our client list includes local micro companies as well as multi-nationals such as Volvo, Alexander Dennis and Optare in the automotive sector. We are also working with Leema Electro Acoustics for whom we manufacture high end audio products, designed and hand built in Wales, it is really exciting.”
Throughout its expansion and diversification the company remains a family business, as it was when founded in 1983 by Nia’s parents Glyn and Sue Davies,
“The family values of the business are very important to us. Our staff are very loyal, many have been with the company for 15-20 years. We also invest in young talent, we recently supported our youngest engineer Rhys through university.”
Davlec Ltd may have expanded into other sectors but the dairy industry remains important to the company.
“The last six months have been among the busiest we’ve had, largely because of an appetite for Welsh products abroad leading to more export opportunities. We’re also very excited about our auto ID system, refined and launched in 2016, that increases efficiencies for farmers utilising electronically tagged cows to monitor and control feeding. We also plan to expand our dairy ranges into new markets in the near future, including the middle-east.”
