Leema Acoustics are a multi-award winning producer of high quality audio equipment based in the heart of Wales.
The Welshpool-based company was originally founded in 1998 by ex-BBC engineers Lee Taylor and Mallory Nicholls. Both had a fanatical interest in audio reproduction and were determined to use their skills to push the boundaries of audio product design, starting with their first product – Xen, a micro audio monitor aimed at the professional market.
As passionate amateurs became aware of the quality of Leema products the Xen entered the consumer market. In 2006 they launched the Tucana integrated amplifier which won the distinguished Hi Fi News amplifier of the year award later that same year, while the Antila CD player, launched the following year, won the prestigious What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision best CD player award.
These products and others positioned Leema Acoustics as a prestige brand in the high-end audio equipment market and led to a partnership with electronics manufacturing company Davlec. The two companies joined forces formally in 2014, bringing together decades of experience and innovative design to strengthen Leema Acoustics’ position in the UK and international marketplace.
Leema Acoustics’ reputation is based on quality products and exceptional customer service, with the designers listening to feedback from consumers and their dealer network when developing a new product and specifying its features.
Managing Director Nia Davies said;
“We are very proud of our customer service record, we listen to what our customers want and do our utmost to accommodate them. We attend many shows throughout the UK and Europe and this gives people the chance speak directly to the designer who have developed their product, even to one of our founders, Lee Taylor. Leema Acoustics customers take their audio very seriously, they are very passionate about their equipment and its quality, so to be able to speak to the designers is really appreciated.”

Leema Acoustics are marking 10 years since some of their most iconic products were launched, with new anniversary editions. Tucana II, launched earlier this year, earned a five-star review in What Hi-Fi and a ‘Best Buy’ award from Hi-Fi Critic.
The recently launched Quasar integrated amplifier has also earned five star reviews, including this one from Hi-fi Choice, further cementing Leema Acoustics’ reputation for high quality production, something that’s embedded in the culture of the organisation;
“All Leema Acoustics products are hand-made to a very high standard, which is an important selling point for us” said Ms Davies. “They’re also British made. All components are sourced from the UK if at all possible, apart from some specialist components not available in the UK.”
Plans for the future include releasing five new products in the near future, including the Hydra II anniversary edition in 2018; The Pulse 4 amplifier; ‘Sirius’ a hard-drive server and a new CD player to meet the call from from consumers who still love the sound and quality that CD offers.
