Callen Gibbs Awards Follow Up

Callen Gibbs, talented Cyber Security Engineer for Capital Network Solutions Ltd, is building a well-deserved reputation in the cyber-security industry. His career is advancing at an impressive rate and his talent, hard work and dedication were recently recognised when he won the Wales Technology Award for Best New Talent. This Award celebrates the excellent contribution made by the talented individuals working within the industry in Wales today.

Callen, one of the first ESTnetNG Year in Industry Cohort, joined Capital Network Solutions in June 2017. Since winning the award Callen’s feet haven’t touched the ground. From delivering training and awareness sessions on the technicalities of Cyber Essentials Plus to the South Wales Regional Cyber Crime unit, Tarian and other local regional forces, to creating and presenting Cyber Awareness sessions to a multitude of clients from the highest levels within UK police, military and security services.

Callen has achieved GDPR F, IASME and Cyber Essentials assessor status certifications and was chosen to co-author the “how to guide” for Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+) Audits. CE+ is largely mandatory throughout the public sector particularly for most government and any military suppliers operating at higher levels of risk, this publication will be contributing significantly to raising UK national cyber security defences.

Callen is also a fully qualified penetration tester, gaining Tiger QSTM certification quickly after joining the team and CNS. Callen explains “Working at CNS has been a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional growth. Gaining Tiger QSTM in less than a year after graduation was an amazing feeling. With CNS now approved CREST members, the only one in wales, just opens to door for further growth”.

Callen is currently creating a testing lab to train staff in current and new cyber tools, and he is looking forward to developing his forensic investigations methodology by coming more involved in CNS’ forensics investigation and major incident analysis work often undertake for global enterprises.

It’s safe to say since his graduation in May 2017, Callen hasn’t wasted any time. With so many achievements already under his belt, we look forward to what is surely a bright future for Callen.

Karl Greenfield Head Of Cyber Security at CNS explains ‘’through his efforts and demonstrable skills, Callen has earned himself a key role to play in our extensive future plans’’.
