ESTnet strengthens board with key appointment from a Newport firm

The specialist network for electronics and software technologies businesses in Wales has appointed a new board member to help drive business opportunities and maximise the sector’s significant contribution to economic growth.

Richard Rees, vice president and chief finance officer at SPTS Technologies, a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment, has been appointed as board member of the ESTnet.

Leading the board is chairman Ian Menzies, senior director at General Dynamics UK Ltd. He is joined by some of the most prominent figures from across the industry who have a wealth of experience in innovation, technology, globalisation and business, spanning the niche to the multinational, such as Axiom Manufacturing Services, EMS, IQE plc, Method4 and Sony UK Technology Centre

Richard Rees said: “I am delighted with this opportunity to join the ESTnet board of directors, providing support for new and existing ESTnet initiatives. ESTnet plays a vital role not only in promoting technology and manufacturing in Wales but helping businesses (of all sizes) grow and succeed. SPTS is one of Wales’ premier technology and manufacturing companies, exporting more than 95 per cent of our products.“

I hope to contribute my experience in global trade and promoting sustainable local supply chains to ESTnet’s knowledge pool, sharing this experience with the business community. Created in 2011, the ESTnet has established itself as a high value network, providing a voice of the industry for the industry. It promotes organisations in Wales within the electronics and software technologies industry that design, develop, manufacture and integrate products and services that are vital to economic success and underpin many of today’s markets.
