The eagerly anticipated Emerging Tech Fest 2020 created by CEMET, the ESTnet, Innovate UK & KTN is fast approaching, with a series of exciting announcements.
TV personality and north Wales native Gareth Jones (above) will host the event, held at Venue Cymru Llandudno on 29 January 2020.
Gareth, a north Wales native and Welsh speaker, found fame hosting science-related programmes like How To and Get Fresh when he was known as ‘Gaz Top’. He now presents motoring and motorsports-related shows and podcasts, and will bring tech knowledge, personality and boundless enthusiasm to the event.
Emerging tech fest keynote speakers
The line-up of highly informed and engaging speakers for the event have also been announced.
We welcome Alwen Williams, newly appointed Programme Director of the North Wales Economic Ambition Board. Former Director of BT Wales, Alwen originally hails from Gwytherin, near Llangernyw. In her new role, which commences in January, she will help drive forward the £1bn North Wales Growth Deal.
Peter Davies, Technical Director of Thales UK will also be joining us. An honorary fellow with Imperial College’s Institute for Security Science & Technology and chair of the AESIN Security Workstream, Peter is a leading expert on countering cyber attacks, targeted supply chain infiltration and cyber physical attacks and has over 30 years of verifying security systems in hardware and software. Peter is sought after by organisations for his advice on their legal position with respect to cyber attacks.
Damien Kelly, Solution Development Manager at ENGIE, the international energy company will also be taking to the stage. ENGIE is currently developing a range of innovative, long-term solar solutions including Darwin, an energy software developed by ENGIE using the intelligent cloud services of Microsoft Azure to optimize performance of ENGIE’s wind, solar, and hybrid (wind & solar) renewable assets worldwide.
Joining Damien will be Peter Sueref, Director of Data Science at Centrica. Peter leads a team of data scientists creating the next generation of data products. He has worked in business intelligence and data for his entire career. He is a member of the expert panel for the Welsh Government’s recently published Review of Digital Innovation and is also a member of the External Advisory Board for the Cardiff University Data Innovation Accelerator.
Alison Mason, Upstream Development Manager at the Wrexham facility of French pharmaceutical company Ipsen will head up our healthcare session. Ipsen develops and markets medications used in oncology, neuroscience and rare diseases along with consumer healthcare products around the world. A former senior scientist at MedImmune, Alison brings a wealth of industry knowledge and know-how to the Emerging Tech Fest.
All of our keynote speakers will also be taking part in our interactive Panel Discussions where they will be joined industry experts sharing their insights on the adoption of new technologies across sectors.
