The ESTnet and its members were highly visible at Digital 2016 held in the Celtic Manor Newport, illustrating how Welsh companies are at the forefront of the digital revolution.
The ESTnet Skills Zone was a popular place to visit. It was the result of a collaboration between ESTnet members Yard, Method4, Sony UK Technology Centre, IQE, Occupassion and ITSUS Consulting. The stand was visited by the Welsh Government Minister for the Economy and Infrastructure Ken Skates and Minister for Skills and Science, Julie James among other dignitaries, businesses and young people eager to sample what a career in the technology industry in Wales entails.
The ESTnet Managing Director, Avril Lewis, chaired a panel discussion entitled ‘What Glass Ceiling! – Women Breaking Through in Tech’, an energetic discussion focused on the barriers faced by the panel, which included Emma Powell from ESTnet members Zipporah Ltd, and how they can be overcome.
North Wales Regional Director Idris Price was also present, promoting technology companies in the region as well as the forthcoming Wales Festival of Innovation that takes place across Wales from the 20 June – 1 July, where technology companies will be at the fore. If you’ve not registered your event yet, there’s still time, visit the Festival of Innovation website!
Finally the ESTnet team were able to present promising results from the Year in Industry pilot-project as part of a special workshop. Avril was joined by current students Conner Rollings of Method4, Nathan Davies from DevOpsGuys and participating employer Alun Price from Alert Logic.
