It goes without saying that when fire engines are called out to emergencies there must be ABSOLUTE trust in the fact that all equipment expected to be on board is on board. To this end Torchwood Technologies are involved in ensuring that such trust is justified.
Following successful installations with 3 separate Fire & Rescue Services Torchwood has been nominated as the preferred supplier for RFID Tags for the whole of the UK Fire & Rescue Service. The 3 minute video presentation from Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service illustrates, far better than any written explanation, the concept employed using our Torchwood RFID tags.
The application uses a combination of special mount on metal RFID tags and “cable tie” tags to identify all components on a fire tender (of which there as many as 300 per tender) and to check them daily and on return from call outs to ensure that the inventory of items is up to date and accurate.
Torchwood specialise in providing ruggedized identification labels utilising linear or two dimensional bar codes, Radio Frequency tags or Near Field communication tags for use in all conditions using high impact adhesives and pride ourselves on being able to provide labels for use where others fail. As a result, our tags have been successfully deployed by a number of 'blue chip' clients in a wide variety of vertical markets including, logistics, retail, facilities or asset management, automotive, healthcare, utilities and stadiums. Some examples being mount on metal RFID tags which overcome the main inherent problem of RFID, i.e. radio signal disturbance, to large tags that can be floor mounted and read automatically by appropriate fork lift trucks.
